    No Dream Deferred Writer's Lounge hosted by Ann McQueen is a free, multi-genre creative writing workshop where BIPOC writers at various stages write to prompts, curated playlist and engage group discussions with objective feedback and critiques from fellow writers.

    Our goal is to “check in” with the writer by creating a safe space that encourages the strengthening of writing skills in the BIPOC community, as we move to the forefront of creative control of our own storytelling narrative.

Lydia’s art criticism and creative non-fiction have been published in 64 Parishes, Bayou Brief, A Gathering of the Tribes Magazine, theGrio.com, The Lens, Pelican Bomb, and Signals Magazine and on her now-inactive blog modern maroon. Independent Curators International, The National Performance Network, The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Foundation, the Platforms Fund, and A Studio in the Woods have supported her work with awards, a fellowship, and a residency. He is a Fall 2009 BFA graduate and recipient of Outstanding Graduate of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s Performing Arts Department. Brian is an Actor, Playwright, Photographer, Director, Singer, and Educator among other things. She holds a BFA in Musical Theatre from Howard University (HU, You Know) and an MA in Classical Acting from the Royal Central School of Speech & Drama (Carrie Fisher’s alma mater for 18 months). Brittany has performed across three continents—including a year spent as a principal vocalist at Hong Kong Disneyland—and her writing has also been featured on Tor.com and in The Indypendent. She’s currently working on her first novel, That Self-Same Metal, a YA historical fantasy set in William Shakespeare’s London.

Using his father’s passing as inspiration, he directed and co-wrote “The Beach”, a short film about an unforgettable experience. “The Beach” won Best Short Film at the 2019 Denton Black film festival and second place at 2019 made in Baltimore short film festival. Today Toroes is a fellow in the Saul Zaentz innovation grant fund and is gearing up to produce his first feature film “Senior."
